about

“I had something I needed to say, something that came from a raw and honest place. Over the last 12 months I have seen disaster and tragedy, and I have seen the most glorious happiness and success. As the song opens, I have Questions, so many questions and they are tearing me down. Slowly though, these questions are becoming my answers.” – Joel Cooper (Vocals/Keys)

Written by brothers Joel and Paul Cooper over late nights with dry gin in the bands Otways Studio, Questions was shaped by the experiences that preceded it and exemplifies what the The Evening Cast have been praised for over the recent years; endearing vocals, inventive musicianship and candid lyricism.

“Every time we play Questions it is electrifying. I feel open, vulnerable and ultimately released of everything that has been…” – Joel Cooper (Vocals/Keys)

The five piece indie-pop band from Victoria teamed with 2 time Grammy Nominated engineer Joe LaPorta and ARIA award winner Marty Brown (Clare Bowditch, Art Of Fighting) to realize their vision for Questions and have spared no exertion to create their finest musical work to date.
The group worked feverishly on every single lyric, re-working and re-shaping the songs structure until they were satisfied that it offered something more audacious than what audiences had heard from them before.

“When I listen to songs by The Evening Cast, I am struck with the sensation: “OH!! YES!!! These kids are absolutely extraordinary.”– Clare Bowditch
In 2013 The Evening Cast released their debut EP Lake through indie label Catch Release Records.
The EP’s feature songs ‘Factory’ and ‘Knots And Bows’ received airplay on RRR, FBi, Triple J Unearthed, SYNfm, Radio Adelaide and 4ZZZ to name a few.

“The Evening Cast might be a fledgling act, but their stellar debut EP Lake proves the Victorian band is a force to be reckoned.” – Sound Of Oz

The band ensued with a sold out hometown launch show before playing headline shows around the country as part of the Lake National Tour. Their increasingly renowned live performances saw them honored with supports for the likes of Clare Bowditch, Oh Mercy and Youngblood Hawke (LA) plus additions to festivals such as the sold out New Years Eve On The Hill Festival, Kyneton Music Festival, The Great Australian Beer Festival and Music In The Gardens.

The Evening Cast introduced Questions to their fans with an exclusive preview on a peak hour Melbourne tram via the infamous Tram Sessions and will celebrate the singles official release with a free show at Federation Square in Melbourne on March 27.
